Chickasha, OK- The Nelson University Lions Men's Soccer team traveled to Oklahoma to finish off the Sooner Athletic Conference Regular Season schedule against the Drovers of USAO. After a tough battle, the Lions unfortunately fell short 2-1, bringing their season to an end.
The Drovers struck early, scoring just over 15 minutes into the match. They would later increase their lead to 2 as they found the back of the net again at the 35 minute mark. The Lions started off slow in the first half, only taking 2 shots, but looked to bounce back in the second half.
Coming out of the locker room, the Lions showed some life as they were able to score an early goal just 14 seconds into the half.
Caleb Cuellar put the Lions on the board with an assist from
Joel Palmer. The Lions found some energy and looked to use this momentum to battle back into the game.
Unfortunately, Cuellar's goal was the only one the Lions could manage to find. Their offense created more opportunities in the second half, finishing with 6 total shots that brought them to a grand total of 8 for the match.
With the Lions loss, it brings them to a 1-6-2 conference record and unable to qualify for the conference tournament, ultimately bringing their season to a close.
