Chickasha, OK | February 14, 2026 — The No. 6 Nelson University Lions hit the road Saturday afternoon with purpose, walking into Drover Fieldhouse and walking out with a statement 89–79 Sooner Athletic Conference victory over the University of Science and Arts.
In a fast-paced, physical SAC battle, the Lions controlled tempo, attacked downhill, and made timely plays late to secure the 10-point road win.
Both teams came out aggressive, pushing the pace and looking to establish rhythm offensively. Science and Arts fed off its home crowd, but Nelson never flinched. The Lions responded with poised ball movement and strong drives to the rim, keeping the scoreboard moving in a tightly contested first half.
Nelson's offensive balance proved key, with multiple scoring threats forcing the Drovers to defend the entire floor.
Coming out of the break, the Lions shifted into another gear. Defensive stops turned into transition opportunities, and Nelson capitalized. Strong rebounding and disciplined execution allowed the Lions to create separation midway through the second half.
Every time the Drovers threatened to make a push, Nelson answered whether it was a strong take to the basket, a clutch perimeter shot, or a key defensive stop.
The Lions' ability to close showed maturity and composure, especially on the road in conference play.
In the final minutes, Nelson stayed aggressive but controlled. Free throws, smart shot selection, and defensive discipline sealed the 89–79 victory, reinforcing why the Lions sit among the nation's top-ranked teams.
