Langston, Oklahoma | February 21, 2026 – The Nelson University Lady Lions closed out regular-season conference play Saturday afternoon in a high-stakes road matchup against Langston, falling 78–62 in SAC action.
Nelson finishes the regular season at 21-5 overall and 17-5 in conference play as the focus now shifts to the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.
Fast Start from the Lady Lions
The Lady Lions came out aggressive, shooting efficiently in the opening quarter and knocking down five early three-pointers to build a 22–16 lead after one. Lauryn Scalice set the tone from deep, finishing with a game-high 25 points, connecting on 7-of-13 from three-point range and a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line.
Paris Miller added a strong interior presence with 19 points and 12 rebounds, securing a double-double and battling on the glass for all 40 minutes.
Langston responded in the second quarter, outscoring Nelson 20–11 to take a 36–33 lead into halftime. The Lions capitalized on turnovers and interior scoring, finishing the game with 38 points in the paint.
Despite shooting 48% from beyond the arc (12-of-25) and 80% from the free-throw line (20-of-25), Nelson struggled to slow Langston's balanced attack over the final two quarters.
Langston extended the margin in the third and fourth quarters, combining for 42 second-half points to create separation. Nelson fought throughout, but the deficit proved too much to overcome down the stretch.
Kaitlyn McKenna chipped in 7 points and 5 rebounds, while Kate Miller contributed 7 rebounds and 5 points in the effort.
