Waxahachie, TX | April 13, 2026 — When the moment called, TJ Sweat dominated.
The Nelson University outfielder has been named NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week following a scorching stretch at the plate that powered the Lions through a perfect 4-0 week and a statement conference sweep over College of the Ozarks.
Sweat turned every at-bat into a problem for opposing pitchers, finishing the week an eye-popping 8-for-10 with a .800 batting average.
Highlighting his week was a jaw-dropping inside-the-park home run, a play that perfectly captured his speed, awareness, and relentless motor. But that was just the beginning. Sweat added six runs and six RBIs, consistently delivering in big moments as Nelson's offense erupted, scoring 12 runs in three of four games during the week.
On the basepaths, Sweat remained a constant threat, swiping two bases and forcing defenses into mistakes. Whether setting the tone at the top or delivering clutch swings, his presence fueled an offense that refused to slow down.
And the results?
A 4-0 week. A conference sweep. And the Lions' 30th win on the season.
For a Lions team building momentum at the right time, TJ Sweat's breakout performance is a glimpse of what makes Nelson dangerous moving forward.
