April 30, 2026 | Chickasha, OK — The postseason stage was set, the challenge was clear, and the Lady Lions stepped into it with belief. But against the No. 1 seed University of Science and Arts, Nelson's season came to a close with an 8-0 result in the opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament at Bill Smith Ballpark.
From the opening pitch, the Lady Lions knew the margin would be thin against one of the nation's top programs.
Science and Arts struck early, using a two-run home run in the first inning to grab momentum before breaking the game open in the third with a six-run surge built on timely hitting and extra-base power . The Drovers finished with 11 hits, capitalizing on opportunities and controlling the pace throughout.
Nelson battled to find its footing offensively but was held hitless despite drawing six walks and putting runners on base in multiple innings . Early pressure in the first and fifth innings showed flashes of opportunity, but the Lady Lions were unable to deliver the breakthrough swing.
In the circle, Braylei Pylant got the start, while Macie Blizzard provided relief as Nelson worked to slow the Drovers' momentum. Despite the final scoreline, the Lady Lions continued to compete through every inning, refusing to back down from the top seed.
While the tournament run ends sooner than hoped, the 2026 season told a deeper story.
This group battled through adversity, found ways to respond, and ultimately earned their place in the SAC Tournament as the No. 8 seed. From Senior Weekend resilience to a split that punched their postseason ticket, the Lady Lions consistently showed toughness and belief.
Moments of fight, flashes of execution, and a commitment to growth defined this team's journey.
Next Up: Offseason
Now, the focus shifts.
