Waxahachie, TX - The Nelson University Lady Lions continued their strong start to conference play Saturday afternoon, earning a four-set victory over College of the Ozarks at home. Nelson claimed the match 25-15, 25-16, 20-25, 25-19 to improve to 8-4 overall and remain unbeaten at 4-0 in conference play.
The Lady Lions came out strong, controlling the opening two sets with decisive 25-15 and 25-16 victories. After College of the Ozarks battled back to take the third set, Nelson responded in the fourth, closing out the match with a 25-19 win.
Caroline Boone led the Lady Lions offensively with a match-high 14 kills while posting a .321 hitting percentage. Mackenzie Smith added 13 kills, while Camdyn Owen contributed nine kills and 5 blocks.
Cassidy Hargesheimer helped direct the Nelson offense with 24 assists and added two service aces. Blair Kram also contributed 12 assists. Defensively, Chloe Munoz recorded a team-high 19 digs, while Taylor Felux added 11.
As a team, the Lady Lions finished with 51 kills and 47 assists while recording 26 total blocks in the victory.
With the win, Nelson improved to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in conference play as the Lady Lions continued their momentum early in the season.
