McPherson, KS — To cap off another weekend road trip for the Nelson Lions volleyball team, the Lady Lions sealed another shutout victory, taking down the Central Christian Tigers 3-0 and securing wins across two separate states in just two days.
Nelson dominated early in the first set, handling the Tigers with ease and cruising to a 25-8 victory. The Lady Lions continued to control the match in the second and third sets, winning 25-17 and 25-12 to complete the shutout.
As of late, what has stood out most for the Lady Lions is their ability to rack up kills time and time again. However, one stat line that stood out in this match was the number of aces, as Nelson tallied 15 aces in a single match, the team's highest total of the season.
Cassidy Hargesheimer led the way with five aces on the day while also adding 15 assists and seven digs.
Ashlyn Cavazos followed closely behind with four aces and eight assists.
Nelson continued to dominate in the kill category as well, finishing with 33 kills on the day.
Mackenzie Smith led the Lady Lions with 11 kills, while
Caroline Boone added eight.
The Tigers had no answer for the Lions' fiery attack, especially at the net, as Central Christian failed to record a single block throughout the match.
The Lady Lions now extend their win streak to 12 games while remaining undefeated in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
