Waxahachie, TX - The Nelson University Lions continued their strong start to the 2026 season Saturday evening, earning a dominant 4-0 victory over Jarvis Christian University at the Lions Athletic Complex.
The Lions wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, as Maquan Aldridge found the back of the net just 1:30 into the match. Yahir Perez and Tyler Peloquin were credited with the assists on the opening goal.
Nelson continued to apply pressure throughout the first half and extended its lead in the 23rd minute when Oscar Otero converted a penalty kick. The Lions added another goal before halftime as Landon Exley scored in the 40th minute off an assist from Isaiah Borjon, sending Nelson into the break with a 3-0 advantage.
Aldridge struck again early in the second half, scoring his second goal of the match in the 50th minute off an assist from Otero to give the Lions a commanding 4-0 lead.
Aldridge led the Lions offensively with two goals and three shots on goal. Otero added a goal and an assist, while Exley contributed a goal off the bench. Nelson also received assists from Perez, Peloquin and Borjon.
The Lions controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting Jarvis Christian 16-3 and putting 10 shots on frame. Nelson's defensive effort was equally impressive, holding the Bulldogs without a shot on goal and securing the team's shutout victory.
With the win, Nelson improves to 3-0-1 on the season.

The Lions will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 8, when they travel to San Antonio to take on Our Lady of the Lake University at 3:00 PM.
