Waxahachie, TX – The SAGU Men's Basketball team battled Wiley College Saturday afternoon in the Sheaffer Center Gymnasium and took a 60-58 victory. There were seven different lead changes throughout the game, and six of the seven lead changes came in the second half.
The Lions were able to maintain their lead throughout the last five minutes of the second half, and it was
Joshua Kashila who made two clutch free throws with just nine second left in the game to put the Lions up 59-55. Wiley's Deonte Spencer would make a three just five second later to pull within one, but
Joel Polius was able to draw the foul and make a free throw to seal the game at 60-58.
Nathan Bailey led SAGU with 15 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds.
Joel Polius had a great afternoon on the boards as he gave the Lions 17 total rebounds and two blocks. As a team, SAGU earned 22 second chance points.
With this win, SAGU now sits at 3-1 in preconference play.
The Lions will now begin conference play as the reigning Sooner Athletic Conference Champions. They face cross-town rival Texas Wesleyan on the road in Fort Worth, Texas on Thursday, November 18, at 7:45 PM.
