Plainview, TX: The Wayland Baptist University (WBU), a competitor in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC), was the opponent for the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions as they traveled to Hillard Field in Plainview, Texas. Wayland Baptist University entered the game preparing to play its longest homestand of the regular season, with three of its last four games at home. The Lions would nevertheless be attempting to degrade their return.

Ted Okoroh of the SAGU Lions would kick off the match by placing the ball, and the opponents would immediately start exchanging blows.

Jonathan Lopez nearly scored early for the Lions on a Jacop Sang pass, but the WBU goalie made an incredible stop.

Guilherme Calvacante's communication would lead to efficient offensive sequences for the Lion's attack. The energetic and boisterous play would lead to several corner kicks by SAGU.

SAGU men's soccer head coach Clementin Oancea encouraged his squad to coordinate their play and increase their effort after the Pioneers had a 2-0 halftime lead.

Juan Ambriz scored his first goal of the year to open the second period on a move that showcased his footwork.

Juan Ambriz scored back-to-back goals for his second unassisted goal of the year after WBU responded with a goal.

Ambriz was burning hot as WBU was on its heels and struggling to stop the SAGU striker, but in the end, they could escape with a victory.

"Proud of the boys' fight and coming from behind showed great character. We must clean up the individual mistakes and maintain the rhythm and speed of play we showed in the second half." SAGU men's soccer head coach Clementin Oancea noted.

Next, the SAGU Lions will return home to face Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) on Saturday, October 22, at Life HS Waxahachie.
