Waxahachie, TX: On Saturday evening at Life High School in Waxahachie, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions and the Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU) Aggies engaged in a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) matchup. Notwithstanding the match ending in a stalemate, one SAC side would win their first conference match because neither team came into the contest with a win in conference play. The severely windy conditions impacted the gameplay, but both sides were valiantly engaged.

When the game started, Zoe Boldt had laser-like focus and used her catlike reflexes to stop the first shot on goal.

The highly energized home fans would become much more so after Zoe Boldt's save.

For the Lady Lions, Valeria Olivas Maldonado took corner kicks that caused the home crowd to cheer in expectation of goals from SAGU.

During the first half, Alexis Roman booted a shot wide left, while Marissa Hernandez had a shot that struck the crossbar. The OPSU defense was in full retreat mode as the Aggies' goalkeeper was on her heels.

The game's opening half saw impressive saves from Zoe Boldt on numerous instances.

Jordan Shelton and Beatriz Rodrigues would fill in for SAGU as substitutes and give the game some energy.

After Breanna Suhr's shot sailed wide to the right, the first period of play ended with a score of 0-0.

Sampa Chisanga scored the game's opening goal with assistance from Lorena Zarzoza after 20 minutes of harsh, aggressive action in the second half. Chisanga would elude the defenders and bury the OPSU goalkeeper with a huge kick.

The Lady Lions eventually earned their first conference victory.

Paul's Pondering
"Every athlete has the will to win, but the difference is when you are willing to do what it takes to win. Tonight, we maintained our defensive authority and were dominant offensively," SAGU women's soccer head coach Paul Hason commented.
"I couldn't ask for a better birthday or a better team! If we continue working together as a team, success will take care of itself,"Â birthday girl and SAGU women's soccer team captain Paula Moreno Gomez added.
"Everyone played a vital role in todays win. Tonight's energy truly made an impact in the execution of todays game plan,"Â SAGU women's soccer assistant coach Natalie Solorio went on to say.

Next, the SAGU Lady Lions will travel to face John Brown University (JBU) on Tuesday, October 25, in Siloam Springs, AR.
