Seniors lead the Lady Lions to the SAC tournament

October 29, 2022

Waxahachie, TX: On Saturday morning at Life HS Waxachacie, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions faced Central Christian College (CCC) in their last Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) regular season contest of the 2022 season. Before the match, senior day festivities were conducted at the field to celebrate Janelle Piraino, Patience Bartz, Jordan Shelton, and Katia Casanova.

Lions Review

  • Patience Bartz would ceremoniously kick off the game before being substituted. CCC exhibited the qualities of a team of character and showed excellent sportsmanship.

  • Kyra Smith and Sampa Chisanga had header tries fly to the left of the goal.

  • Valeria Olivas Maldonado executed corner kicks for the Lady Lions that inspired the home audience to applaud in anticipation of SAGU goals.

  • Rylee Thatcher took a shot from the forward position to keep the Tigers defense on high alert.

  • The shot from Beatriz Rodrigues would also be quite much to the right. After the opening period, SAGU had the upper hand statistically, outshooting CCC in shots on goal and corner kicks.

  • After a SAGU corner kick, Skyla Deoliveira would utilize her forehead to headbutt a header at the Tigers' goal area.

  • After a SAGU corner kick, Sampa Chisanga would sneak a swing toward the Tigers' goal box with her footwork.

  • SAGU would adhere to its defensive game plan for the full 90 minutes of play, with goalkeeper Zoe Boldt setting high standards for her defender teammates. The Tigers would not score throughout that time.

  • As a result of the score being tied, the Lady Lions would turn to other SAC competitors and opponents to secure their tournament participation.
