Lady Lions dominate action-packed weekend

October 29, 2022

Waxahachie, TX: Southwestern Christian University (SCU) and Xavier University (XULA) were the opponents for the undefeated No. 8 Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions volleyball team on Saturday morning at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, Texas. By concentrating on the essential components they need to control play in the postseason, the undefeated Lady Lions would try to nullify both opponents.

The Lady Lions (27-0, 18-0) crushed their guest opponents with back-to-back sweeps.

Lion Review

  • The Lady Lions maintained their SAC supremacy in the opening matchup against Southwestern Christian University. SAGU dominated the action at the net and swung and served wonderfully from start to finish.

  • Ava Myers, the Lady Lions' outside hitter, was focused on flying from the outside to slam Riley Burcham's assists. The trio scored 27 kills in total, with Emma Tompkins and Alexandra Bonnett also showing no fear at the net.

  • For a total of 7 blocks with their greater length, Lilly Hanna and Karena Tipton overpowered Southwestern Christian University.

  • Tessa Glick added 17 digs to her defensive stat line as the Lady Lions defeated SCU in three sets, 25-11, 25-13, and 25-14.

  • Riley Burcham increased her day's tally of assists in the second game to a staggering 59.

  • In the second game of the day against XULA, Maddi Petten was as impressive, excavating all possible Xavier kills and stunning the home fans.

  • ??Another statistic highlighting SAGU's superior performance is Lindi Boling's eight service aces over the Lady Lions' action-packed weekend.

More from Moore:
