SAGU, SCU battle ends in deadlock

Waxahachie, TX: The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions competed against Southwestern Christian University (SCU) in a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) matchup at Life High School in Waxahachie. The SAGU defense will concentrate on SCU striker Chrissy Mitchell, who leads the Eagles in shots on goal.
 

Lions Review

  • For two teams whose forwards usually contribute significantly to the number of shots on goal, the first half was remarkably quiet offensively.

  • The assistant head coach for women's soccer at SAGU, Natalie Solorio, encouraged her players to rush back on defense to maintain the team's structure.

  • As the second half of the game began, the home audience gasped as Alexis Roman's shot attempt narrowly missed the goal box.

  • When Beatriz Rodrigues utilized superb footwork to shake an SCU defender out of her cleats, the home crowd shrieked in admiration.

  • Zoe Boldt would employ effective communication to manage traffic and maintain security for the Lady Lion's den.

  • Jordan Shelton's powerful shot that deflected off the defender's heel gave the Lady Lions a chance to break the stalemate.

  • Rylee Thatcher demonstrated the benefits of her weeklong agility training as she sped past Eagle midfielders.

  • The captain of SAGU's women's soccer team, Paula Moreno Gomez, would make significant efforts to send her striker teammates long, precise passes.

  • The Lady Lions would try a goal in the waning seconds by throwing the ball in, but to no effect.

  • With a score of 0 each, the game would conclude in a draw.

"Our Lady Lions delivered another significant performance tonight," SAGU women's soccer head coach Paul Hason commented.

 

"Every game has been a stepping stone in the right direction, and today's game confirmed that. Onto the next conference game!" assistant head coach for women's soccer Natalie Solorio added.

 

The Next Step

The NCCAA affiliate member Arlington Baptist University is the SAGU Lady Lions' next opponent at Moneygram Soccer Park on October 11th.
