SAGU defeats UNTD and Haddock scores 24 points to lead the Lions

November 22, 2022

Waxahachie, TX: On Tuesday evening at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions men's basketball team played in a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) contest against the University of North Texas - Dallas (UNTD) Trailblazers.

After a tense contest, the Lions blazed the Trailblazers 82-72, led by solid contributions from seniors Noah Boling, Tyler Kinghorn, and Brooks Haddock.

Lion Review

  • UNTD and SAGU were knotted at thirty after the first half of play. With 10 points, Brooks Haddock leads both teams. Haddock even enthralled the audience by sneaking from the weak side to block a UNTD shot attempt against the back wall.

  • At halftime, Cortland Blake and Dallas Smith had a combined 10 points.

  • Tyler Kinghorn's performance in the second half was excellent after he had several fouls in the first. Kinghorn raced the rim for and-ones, defended the rim, and swished in a triple.

  • Noah Boling shot ten free throws in the second half and finished with 16 points to help SAGU pull away from UNTD; none of them even touched the rim. Boling's calmness and leadership helped the Lions secure the game.

  • With 15 and seven rebounds, Cortland Blake led the Lions in scoring and came just three rebounds short of recording his second double-double of the season.

  • For the Lions, Dallas Smith was also a standout performer. The freshman off the bench upped the Lions' scoring total with 10 points and two three-pointers.

  • Brooks Haddock led the game with 24 points on a remarkable 50 percent shooting percentage. Haddock recorded his seventh game with ten or more points by making four three-pointers and eight free throws.

Deal's Declaration

"Proud of a gutsy win before break. These guys are a pleasure to coach," SAGU head men's basketball coach Delton Deal said.
