San Antonio, TX: The Lady Lions of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) made the trip to San Antonio to compete in the Our Lady of the Lake University's Halo Classic. Friday Afternoon, the Lady Lions faced the Jarvis Christian College (JCC) Bulldogs in the OLLU Mabee Gymnasium for their first matchup of the season against a fellow NAIA affiliate school. Heavy ball pressure, strong defense, and aggressive play would all be present during the game.

Lion Review
-
Wendy Clemmons would hit a long-range three-pointer for the Lady Lions to begin the contest, but the Bulldogs would be able to build an early scoring advantage by applying heavy ball pressure.
-
Taylor Moravcik's aggressive play in the paint helped the Lady Lions team build a solid interior presence. However, the Lady Lions would find themselves at a disadvantage on the rebounding totals attributable to an early shooting slump.
-
Rylee Lavender was the Lady Lions' spark plug off the bench; her points and rebounds gave the team momentum.
-
Neeley Tilley-Bedick and Kyla McMinn would enhance the Lady Lions' defense, putting JCC players into difficult positions on the floor. The SAGU squad had an intense segue into the game's second half thanks to the ball pressure and attention to detail.
-
Because of their fantastic footwork and use of pump fakes, Taylor Moravcik and Rylee Lavender regularly found themselves at the free-throw line. Together, they would make ten free throws at a 100% clip.
-
The Lady Lions would ultimately lose to the Bulldogs. With 17 points and ten rebounds, Taylor Moravcik finished the game with a double-double.
-
With 13 points, Rylee Lavender would be the Lady Lions' second-highest scorer. Additionally, Lavender would grab five rebounds.
Son's Spiel
"Hats off to them; they made shots and played great! We will use this to get better. We can't dwell on it too much; we get to play again tomorrow. Recognize it, admit it, learn from it and forget it!" SAGU head women's basketball coach Micheal Sons said.
