Waxahachie, TX: On Tuesday afternoon at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions men's basketball team played the North American University (NAU) Stallions.
In SAGU's 99-76 victory over NAU, several Lions scored in the team's evenly distributed scoring onslaught.
Lion Review
-
The NAU defense offered the Lions virtually little opposition early on in the game. To generate numerous simple baskets, SAGU was able to execute sets and distribute the basketball inside-out.
-
Tyler Kinghorn scored 13 points in the opening frame. Alerick Hall dropped eleven first-half dimes. As they executed pick and rolls in the halfcourt and fastbreak moves, the pair was electrifying to watch.
-
Freshmen JJ Boling and Dallas Smith of the SAGU bench impressed on offense, slashing and scoring pull-up jumpers.
-
Philbert Weekes and Daniel Felix appeared to be automatic buckets when they obtained the ball in the paint.
-
The SAGU team's selfless performance would continue to fuel their attacking strategy in the second half.
-
The Lions' starting frontcourt of Cortland Blake and Tyler Kinghorn combined for 19 points on outstanding shooting percentages.
-
JJ Boling scored 12 points and pulled 11 rebounds to register his first double-double in his collegiate career.
-
Regarding assists, Alerick Hall outperformed the North American University squad on his own. Hall outpaced the NAU team with 14 assists compared to their 13.
Deal's Declaration
"That was a great way to finish the semester at home. Three guys with double-digit rebounds and great team basketball. Proud of the effort." SAGU head men's basketball coach Delton Deal said.
