Lady Lions drop battle of 287

Waxahachie, TX: On Saturday afternoon at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions women's basketball team played in a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) contest against their cross-town rivals Texas Wesleyan University (TWU)

The Rams were able to defeat the Lady Lions in the battle of 287, 90-65.

 

Lion Review

  • Kyla McMinn would make the opening basket on a spinning up-and-under. Pick and roll would be used by Rylee Lavender and Jazra Williams to create a fluid attacking approach.

  • To close up the first quarter, Neeley sank a buzzer-beater three-pointer to trim the Rams' advantage to 5. Another triple subsequently opened the second quarter from Tilley-Bedick.

  • Taylor Moravick netted her fourth three-pointer of the season on a pick-and-pop action. 

  • Williams and Moravick would connect on a high-low to force the Rams to regroup with a time-out. Cailyn Tucker would use a flat screen to drive downhill for a furious and-one.

  • At halftime, the Lady Lions would trail the Rams 43-35. 

  • The Rams would have their most significant scoring lead of the game after the third quarter got off to a fast start. 

  • The Rams gained the advantage they required in the third session to secure the victory in the game's final minutes.

  • SAGU was led by Rylee Lavender and Neeley Tilley-Bedick, who each scored 13 points. Taylor Moravcik and Jazra Williams each scored eight points.

  • Cailyn Tucker, a freshman, set a new season high with nine points and six assists.

"Texas Wesleyan is a very good team! Hats off to them. We had some really good moments today, and we continue to get better every day!" SAGU head women's basketball coach Micheal Sons said.

On Saturday, December 8, Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) will travel to face Oklahoma City University (OCU) for a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) showdown.
