Graham’s Strong Pitching Performance Enough for Split

Waxahachie, TX – SAGU Softball split the doubleheader with Mid-America Christian on Friday afternoon at the SAGU Softball Field. The Lady Lions took game one 1-0 after a great pitching performance from Autumn Graham, but they dropped game two 2-1. SAGU now sits at 18-11 on the year and 8-6 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
 
Game One
 
Autumn Graham shut down the MACU Evangels, throwing a complete game shutout and leading SAGU to a 1-0 victory. The pitching was strong on both sides as Graham struck out seven, while Eggleston sat down two.
 
The Lady Lions opened up the scoring in the first inning when Ashlyn Teran doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. In the pitchers circle Graham surrendered zero runs on two hits over seven innings, striking out seven and walking zero. The Lady Lions totaled five hits throughout the game.
 
Game Two
 
Both teams were strong in the circle on Friday, but the Evangels had the edge at the plate as they took the 2-1 victory over the Lady Lions in game two of the doubleheader on Friday. Autumn Graham started the game for SAGU, recording 14 outs.
 
The Lady Lions out hit Mid-America Christian seven to six, but the Evangels were able to push two runs across the plate. Schnering led things off on the rubber for MACU. The hurler allowed seven hits and one run over six and a third innings, striking out three and walking zero.
 
Graham was in the pitcher's circle for SAGU. She went four and two-thirds innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out two. Kassandra Vargas and Ashlyn Teran entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and two-thirds innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
 
Illeana Salinas, Ashlyn Teran, Sarah Sanders, Airiana Magdaleno, Alana Ortega, Ashlyn Teran, and Makyla Kelly each managed one hit to lead SAGU.
 
The Lady Lions will now face Science and Arts tomorrow at 12:00 in a doubleheader at the SAGU Softball Field.
