Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Darian Davis

SAGU competes till the final horn at Moneygram Soccer Park

September 13, 2022

Dallas, TX - In a non-conference game between the two NCCAA member teams, Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) faced off against Randall University (RU) on the grassy grounds of Moneygram Soccer Park.

Lion Review

  • Juan Ambriz used clever movement to confuse RU defenders and provide scoring opportunities for the SAGU offense early in the contest.

  • In the first half, the SAGU defense, led by Jose Ladoriel, provided them the assurance to engage in aggressive play on 50/50 balls.

  • Sergio Valegra was encouraged to attempt shots he worked on in practice by SAGU men's soccer head coach Clementin Oancea.

  • RU goalie B. Silva had to stay alert due to Ethan Stewart's shots at the net.

  • The RU Saints' P. Mckay scored successfully with M. Coratolo's assist.

  • The Saints ultimately defeated the Lions by a single goal.

Oancea's Opinion

"I was proud of the overall team performance and the intensity the boys brought in the game. It was an extremely difficult matchup against a squad that enjoys making you uncomfortable. That was the best we played regarding consistency and patience on build-up. We paid the price in one moment and gave the night's only goal. There were plenty of chances for us, but the ball didn't find the back of the net," SAGU men's soccer head coach Clementin Oancea noted.
