Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Darian Davis

Tilley-Bedick takes the lead as the Lady Lions' slow start hinders them

January 26, 2023

Waxahachie, TX: On Thursday afternoon at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions women's basketball team played a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) contest against the University of Science and Arts (USAO) Drovers.

Due to their shaky start, the SAGU Lady Lions fell short to the Drovers 83-55.

Lion Review

  • At the conclusion of the first quarter of play, the Lady Lions were behind 22 to 4. Poor shooting and mistakes by SAGU allowed USAO to quickly build a comfortable advantage.

  • In the second session, the Lady Lions were far more productive. Jennah Savage, Chanie Chambers, and Autumn Moore contributed to cutting the USAO advantage with deft defensive plays.

  • When the Lady Lions emerged from the locker room for the halftime break, they had formally established their groove. The Lady Lions' scoring was made possible by seven different Lions' contributions.

  • Despite ultimately losing to USAO, the Lady Lions had their highest-scoring period in the fourth and final quarter.

  • Neeley Tilley-Bedick led SAGU in scoring with 13 points and three three-pointers.

  • Autumn Moore added nine points and three assists.

  • Both Rylee Lavender and Taylor Moravcik scored eight points.

  • Cailyn Tucker, a freshman guard, contributed well off the bench by scoring 6 points.
