Domination in Chickasha: Lady Lions Serve Up a Sweeping Victory Over USAO

October 13, 2023

Chickasha, OK - In a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) matchup, the SAGU Lady Lions showcased their dominance as they traveled to the Drover Fieldhouse in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to face off against the University of Science and Arts (USAO) Drovers. The Lady Lions left no room for doubt, sweeping the Drovers in three sets with scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-12.

Lions Review
The Lady Lions came into the game with confidence and purpose, led by their stud attacker, Bailee Alexander, who was named the back-to-back SAC Attacker of the Week. Alexander wasted no time in the first set, displaying her aggressiveness with powerful swings that were perfectly orchestrated into the offense through the high IQ playmaking of Riley Burcham and Cassidy Hargesheimer, the team's top playmakers. Their superior court vision and expert assists set the tone for an intense match.

The opening set was marked by a fierce rally between the two SAC squads, but it was SAGU's team captain, Emma Tompkins, who proved to be the difference-maker, scoring the final two crucial points to secure the first set victory.

As the game progressed, the Lady Lions continued to assert their dominance, leaning heavily on the formidable net protection and spectacular kills of Emma Tompkins, Karena Tipton, and Lilly Hanna. This trio demonstrated their versatility and resilience, helping SAGU take a two-set lead over the Drovers.

In the third and decisive set, it was Tessa Glick and the SAGU defense that shone, suffocating the Drovers and digging the majority of their kill attempts. The Lady Lions' relentless defense paved the way for a sweeping victory, marking their 12th sweep-win of the 2023 season and their 11th in conference play.

Upcoming Action
