Oklahoma City, OK - It was a afternoon of thrilling volleyball action at the Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, as the SAGU Lady Lions squared off against the Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Evangels in a highly anticipated Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) matchup. Both teams entered the game with impressive records, boasting star attackers who had been instrumental in their recent successes.
Dominant Display by SAGU Lady Lions
The SAGU Lady Lions came into the match with a head of steam, led by the dynamic Bailee Alexander, who had earned the honor of being the back-to-back SAC Attacker of the Week. This contest did not disappoint, as the Lady Lions secured a commanding victory in three sets: 25-23, 25-17, and 25-14.
From the opening serve, SAGU showcased their prowess on the court. Emma Tompkins, Karena Tipton, Bailee Alexander, and Lilly Hanna, with their superior height and leaping ability, set the tone for the Lady Lions. In the first set, the Lady Lions displayed a powerful offensive game, although the MACU Evangels put up a fight. The Evangels started with a 4-0 lead, but the Lady Lions rallied back. Madison Petten's serve ace and a MACU attack error were the final touches that secured the opening set for SAGU.
The second set highlighted SAGU's exceptional passing skills, with Riley Burcham and Cassidy Hargesheimer delivering pinpoint passes and delicate set-ups that ignited the Lady Lions' offense. It was a masterclass in precision and teamwork.
In the third and decisive set, the Lady Lions' defense took center stage, sealing the three-set sweep. Tessa Glick showcased her defensive prowess with a total of nine digs, Madison Petten contributed eight digs, and Bailee Alexander's six digs complemented her 10 kills, highlighting her versatility as a player. Lilly Hanna led SAGU with 11 kills, while Riley Burcham and Cassidy Hargesheimer each tallied 17 assists. Alexandra Bonnett was a force to be reckoned with, finishing the match with a remarkable .467 hit percentage and seven kills.

The SAGU Lady Lions are now gearing up for their next challenge. On October 20th, at 6:00 PM, the Lady Lions will face John Brown University in another SAC duel. The match will take place at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, TX, and promises to be another awesome showdown.
