Waxahachie, TX - Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Head Volleyball Coach Hank Moore, with the No. 24 SAGU Lady Lions volleyball team's three-set victory over the John Brown University (JBU) Golden Eagles has achieved a monumental milestone in his illustrious coaching career: his 500th career win. In his 23rd season at the helm of the SAGU volleyball program, Moore's achievement is a testament to his unwavering commitment, dedication, and passion for the sport and his players.
Coach Moore's journey with the SAGU volleyball program began in 1998 when he joined the university as its athletic director. In 2001, he transitioned into his current role as head coach of the women's volleyball team. Over the years, Moore has become a cornerstone of the SAGU athletic department and a symbol of excellence and consistency in coaching.
For the past 17 years, Moore has consistently averaged 24 victories every season, an incredible accomplishment that speaks volumes about his ability as a coach and his extraordinary consistency. He is not only the longest-tenured coach in the history of the SAGU volleyball program but also the first SAGU coach to surpass 500 wins in any sport while exclusively coaching at SAGU. This milestone underscores his dedication to the university and the sport he loves.
One of Coach Moore's most significant contributions is the impact he's had on the lives of the young women who have passed through his program. Approximately 220 student-athletes have graduated from SAGU's volleyball program under Moore's guidance. Beyond the wins and losses, he has instilled values, work ethic, and life lessons that extend far beyond the volleyball court. These former players have gone on to achieve success in various fields, and Coach Moore's mentorship has played a pivotal role in their personal and professional development.
Coach Moore's influence doesn't stop at the collegiate level. During the off-season, he dedicates his time to coaching club volleyball, shaping the skills and character of hundreds of local athletes. His commitment to nurturing young talent extends the impact of his coaching far beyond the confines of SAGU's campus.
Perhaps what truly sets Coach Moore apart is his unwavering commitment to the NAIA's Champions of Character values. These values emphasize integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership. Coach Moore has consistently modeled these values for his players, students, peers, and fans. He has not only taught the game of volleyball but also how to be upstanding individuals who contribute positively to their communities.
Hank Moore's 500th win is not just a testament to his coaching excellence but a celebration of the enduring legacy he has created at Southwestern Assemblies of God University. His impact reaches far beyond the win-loss column, touching the lives of countless individuals and leaving an indelible mark on the world of collegiate volleyball. As Coach Moore continues to lead and inspire, SAGU can look forward to more victories on the court and in life for years to come.
