SAGU Lions Show Grit in SAC Clash Against LCU Wildcats

October 28, 2023

Pineville, LA - In an exhilarating Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) matchup, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions football team ventured to face the Louisiana Christian University (LCU) Wildcats at the Wildcat Field in Pineville, LA. Under the cloudy Louisiana sky, the traveling Lions engaged in a fiercely competitive contest but ultimately fell short, with a final score of 27-46. While the outcome may not have favored the Lions, they displayed promise and grit on both the offensive and defensive fronts.

Lions Review
The game began with a spectacular 75-yard touchdown run by Dakeevion Rose, his longest of the season and a memorable moment in his college career. The Wildcats countered with a powerful 40-0 scoring run, demonstrating their offensive prowess. Despite the Wildcats' lead, the Lions continued to exhibit determination and resilience.

Dakeevion Rose added another feather to his cap with a three-yard touchdown run, using his robust lower body strength to power through LCU defenders.

At halftime, the Lions found themselves trailing the Wildcats 40-13, but they remained focused on turning the tide of the game.

In the second half, the Lions executed several remarkable plays through the air. A standout moment was Kolby Tanner's eight-yard touchdown reception, which marked Elijah Bowman's first touchdown pass of the season. Elijah Bowman displayed growing confidence, delivering a stunning 34-yard pass to Tyson Nonette for another SAGU score.
