Lions Review
The first half of the match saw both teams locked in a goalless stalemate, with both sides putting up a strong defensive front. However, the Lady Lions had a plan in store for the second half, and it was Anna Bewley who would become the star of the show.
In the 45th minute of the game, Bewley opened the floodgates, scoring a brilliant unassisted goal that sent shockwaves through the stadium. The freshman sensation, Stephanie Hernandez, followed suit just two minutes later, netting an unassisted goal of her own. Bewley and Hernandez showcased their speed and dynamic skills, proving to be a constant threat to the Aggie defense.
Bewley was far from done. She found the back of the net once again, this time capitalizing on a beautifully delivered pass from Valeria Olivas Maldonado. The combination of Bewley's clinical finishing and her teammates' creativity proved to be too much for the Aggies to handle.
Anna Bewley completed her remarkable hattrick in the 83rd minute of the game, establishing herself as an unstoppable force on the field. Her exceptional performance earned her the well-deserved spotlight, and cheers from her teammates.
SAGU's goalkeeper, Zoe Boldt, played a crucial role in maintaining the Lady Lions' clean sheet, making two crucial saves to secure the shutout victory.
In addition to their exceptional offensive display, SAGU dominated the statistics battle, outshooting the Aggies 15 to five and earning 12 corner kicks compared to the Aggies' two.
The Lady Lions' victory was not just a testament to individual brilliance but also a collective effort that showcased their teamwork, determination, and hunger for success. As they move forward in the season, the Lady Lions who are now 3-0 in league play will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in the SAC.
Up next, the Lady Lions will face Wayland Baptist University on October 7th, Saturday, at 12:00 PM. The game will take place at the Lions Athletic Complex in Waxahachie, Texas.
