SAGU Lady Lions Beat CCC Lady Tigers In Three Sets

October 7, 2023

McPherson, KS –  The SAGU Lady Lions volleyball team demonstrated their skills in a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) matchup against the Central Christian College (CCC) Lady Tigers. The action unfolded at the Jerry E. Alexander Arena in McPherson, Kansas, and the Lady Lions left an indelible mark with a commanding victory in three sets: 25-16, 25-12, and 25-8.

Lions Review
Bailee Alexander the reigning SAC Attacker of the Week was an offensive powerhouse for the Lady Lions, amassing an impressive 12 kills, setting the tone for the team's attack.

Freshman stud Cassidy Hargesheimer orchestrated the offense seamlessly with 12 assists, while senior stud Riley Burcham contributed 17 assists, demonstrating exceptional vision.

Samantha Rico* had a standout performance with a new season-best, recording two serve aces that added to the Lady Lions' momentum. Tessa Glick displayed her defensive prowess with 12 digs, making heroic saves that halted CCC's momentum.

In a head-to-head team comparison, the Lady Lions tallied an impressive 37 assists, showcasing their fluid offense and teamwork, while the Lady Tigers managed 13.

"After a long bus ride, we shook off the bus legs and played fairly well. Bailee had another big night, and Emma played a very strong match. She also moved into 2nd place all time in SAGU History. She is only 31 blocks away from passing Krystal Cisneros as the all time leader in total blocks. She has a legitimate chance," said Head Volleyball Coach Hank Moore.
