SAGU Lions Dominate LSUA Generals in High-Octane Showdown

November 13, 2023

Waxahachie, TX - In a thrilling matchup at the Sheaffer Center, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions showcased their prowess against the Louisiana State University Alexandria (LSUA) Generals, treating the home crowd to a spectacular game of basketball.

Boling's Bombs and Generals' Defensive Mix
JJ Boling electrified the court in the early stages, draining three of four first-half three-point attempts. His impressive offensive display was complemented by a display of major toughness, securing five first-half rebounds. However, the Generals, employing a mix of zone and high-pressure man-to-man defense, aimed to disrupt the Lions' rhythm.

Despite some uncharacteristic turnovers, the Lions found their stride with the entrance of Justin Collins off the bench. At halftime, SAGU held a 48-41 lead, with CJ Hall and Noah Boling leading all scorers with 11 points each. CJ Kelley dominated the boards with six rebounds at the break.

Second Half Surge: Boling's Brilliance and Defensive Dominance
The Lions continued their momentum in the second half, with Noah Boling taking center stage. Boling's exceptional shot-making and playmaking abilities set the tone for a series of special plays that ignited the crowd. Notably, a fast-break alley-oop jam from Justin Collins to CJ Kelley added to the highlight reel.

Stingy defense and swift fast breaks became the theme as the Lions steadily built their lead. Jacory Dawkins contributed three marvelous assists, further extending the lead. The Lions secured a decisive victory, finishing the game with a commanding score of 113-82. Shooting at an impressive 50% from the field and 49% from beyond the arc, SAGU displayed both offensive finesse and defensive tenacity.
