SAGU Lions Outpace No. 8 Freed-Hardeman at Battle of the Beach Tournament Day Two

Panama City, FL - In a thrilling clash at the Battle of the Beach Tournament, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions secured a remarkable upset, toppling No. 8 Freed-Hardeman University (FHU) Lions and breaking a two-game losing streak.

Lions Review 
From the tip-off, the SAGU Lions embraced the physicality of the game, showcasing tenacious defense in the paint and a strategic offensive game beyond the three-point line. Team captain Noah Boling spearheaded the effort in the first half, contributing six points, two assists, and three rebounds.

CJ Kelley dominated the paint, collecting seven rebounds and making a perfect 4/4 from the free-throw line in the opening half. Off the bench, Noah Jonker added toughness, while JJ Boling's three-pointer capped off the first half with SAGU trailing by a single point, 34-33.

The second half saw the SAGU Lions maintain their composure, outpacing Freed-Hardeman with speed and disciplined execution. Alerick Hall's clutch free throws sealed the game, before Freed-Hardeman attempted a full court heave to tie the game in the final possession.

Key Stats 
Key contributors emerged in the stat sheet, with CJ Hall and Noah Boling both notching 18 points. CJ Kelley's double-double, including 12 points and 13 rebounds, played a pivotal role in the Lions' defensive strength. Alerick Hall led the team with six assists,

With this triumph in their rearview, the Lions turn their attention to upcoming conference play. Their next challenge awaits on November 30, as they face the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha, OK, at 7:45 PM.
