Chickasha, OK - The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions kicked off their 2023-24 Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) action on the road with a nail-biting showdown against the University of Science and Arts (USAO) Drovers at the Drover Fieldhouse.
Lions Review
In the first half CJ Kelley showcased a masterclass in low-block finesse, contributing 20 points through impressive post moves and hook shots. Noah Jonker's bench performance added toughness and sharp shooting, while reigning SAC Player of the Week, CJ Hall, chipped in twelve first half points. Despite the offensive firepower, the Lions found themselves trailing 46-45 at halftime with an uncharacteristically generous defensive display, allowing the Drovers to shoot 50% from the field.
The Lions came out roaring in the second half, with CJ Hall exploding for 17 second half points, supported by crucial scores from Noah Boling. Alerick Hall's playmaking and Justin Collins' stellar on-ball defense ultimately helped the Lions secure a hard-fought victory, finishing 97-90.
