SAGU Wins Over TXWES in Dominating Fashion in Rival Battle

December 2, 2023

Waxahachie, TX - In a thrilling crosstown showdown at the Sheaffer Center, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions left an indelible mark, overpowering their rivals, the Texas Wesleyan University (TXWES) Rams, with a final score of 77-59.

Lions Review
Right from the opening tip-off, it was clear that the Lions were on a mission. Displaying unmatched speed, they dominated the fastbreak battle in the first half, led by the explosive CJ Hall, who mirrored the skills and movements of NBA All-Star Jamal Murray. Despite being out-rebounded 21-12 by the Rams, the Lions showcased their offensive prowess, entering halftime with a substantial lead.

The reigning Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) Player of the Week, CJ Hall, was unstoppable, putting up an impressive 20 points in the first half alone. The home crowd erupted with cheers, acknowledging his stellar performance.

The Lions continued their dominance in the second half, upping the pace of the game. Alerick Hall orchestrated swift plays, creating scoring opportunities for both himself and his teammates. JJ Boling's hustle plays on rebounds ignited the team and the home crowd, setting the tone for a triumphant finish.

Noah Boling and Justin Collins displayed defensive prowess, securing consecutive stops that frustrated the Rams' offensive efforts. Kylon Owens' commanding presence in the paint further solidified the Lions' lead.
