SAGU Lady Lions Tame HPU Yellow Jackets in Final Home Contest of 2023

Waxahachie, TX - In a commanding performance at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions asserted their dominance over the D3 Howard Payne University (HPU) Yellow Jackets, securing a resounding 74-39 victory in their final home contest of 2023.

From the opening tip-off, Agar Farres Garcia and Kyla McMinn set the tone, establishing control of the paint with shot-blocking prowess, layup precision, and tenacious rebounding. The dynamic duo paved the way for a first-quarter lead of 23-4, showcasing the Lady Lions' early dominance.

Rylee Lavender and Chanie Chambers injected a burst of energy and offensive firepower off the bench, contributing to the Lady Lions' commanding lead. Wendy Clemmons and Cailyn Tucker orchestrated the offense with confidence, while Autumn Moore exhibited two-way excellence with dynamic plays on both ends of the court.

By halftime, the Lady Lions had built an imposing 46-11 lead, holding the Yellow Jackets to a mere 15% shooting from the field. Agar Farres Garcia led all halftime scorers with 14 points and five rebounds, while Kyla McMinn's defensive prowess shone with four first-half steals.

Despite a spirited comeback attempt by the Yellow Jackets in the second half, the Lady Lions stood firm. Agar Farres Garcia showcased nifty footwork in the post, ultimately sealing the 74-39 victory for SAGU.
