February 11, 2023

Oklahoma City, OK: On Saturday afternoon at the Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions women's basketball team played a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) contest against the Mid-America Christian University (MACU) Evangels.

The Lady Lions were defeated by the Evangels 84-64.

Lion Review

  • Rylee Lavender was the Lady Lions' offensive leader in the game's opening stanza. Lavender scored buckets at the Gaulke Activity Center by handling the ball gracefully and shooting with great accuracy.

  • Lavender demonstrated her scouting report discipline on the defensive end by taking back-to-back charges.

  • After the first 10 minutes of play, SAGU's Taylor Moravcik and Neeley Tilley-Bedick both made their initial shot attempts, aiding the Lady Lions in maintaining a 15-13 lead.

  • Although MACU was able to start the second period with more precise shooting, Kyla McMinn and Macy Smith provided the Lady Lions with the necessary output to keep them in the game despite the scoring surge by Evangel.

  • The result at the halftime break was MACU 35 and SAGU 32. Rylee Lavender had 13 points and three assists and was the top scorer during the first half. At the break, Taylor Moravcik had seven points and six rebounds.

  • In the third quarter of the game, Cailyn Tucker heated up, scoring 12 straight points. The freshmen guard was a downhill tornado, slicing into the lane at maximum speed.

  • Ultimately, the Evangels were able to widen their advantage and claim victory. Cailyn Tucker led the Lions in scoring with 17 points and five rebounds, Rylee Lavender added 16 points, and Taylor Moravcik scored nine and hugged six rebounds.
