The Lady Lions get more from Moore in road win over Central Christian

February 16, 2023

McPherson, KS: On Thursday evening in McPherson, Kansa, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions women's basketball team played a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) contest against the Central Christian College (CCC) Tigers.

The Lady Lions clawed the Tigers 79-56.

Lion Review

  • For the Lady Lions, there were no lead changes during the game. With the help of precise shooting and gritty inside defense, SAGU took the early lead and never looked back.

  • The Lady Lions were similarly successful in profiting from errors made by Central Christian. From the 18 mistakes committed by the Tigers, SAGU scored 16 points. And despite the Central Christian bench edging the SAGU reserves in the scoring department, the Lady Lions dominated play in the painted area.

  • The SAGU Lions' Autumn Moore was a standout performer. Autumn Moore controlled every period with her superb all-around performance. Moore finished the game with ten rebounds and 20 points. Moore also contributed one steal and four assists. Additionally, Moore recorded her first double-double of the season.

  • Neeley Tilley-Bedick had 15 points and three three-pointers to her credit. Rylee Lavender had four assists, seven rebounds, and 11 points.

  • Together, Jazra Williams and Cailyn Tucker grabbed 17 rebounds. In total, eleven different Lady Lions scored.

Son's Spiel

"Proud of how the ladies handled business on the road. Great performance from Autumn Moore, but this was a triumph for the entire team. Defensively, we were focused on our assignments, and the same mentality carried over to the offensive side," SAGU head women's basketball coach Micheal Sons said.
