Waxahachie, TX – On Friday afternoon in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions softball team faced the University of the Southwest (N.M.) for the first half of their series doubleheader.

Game 1:
The Lady Lions defeated the University of the Southwest in a close match in their opening game of the day, 11-10.
With a complete game, Annie Charanza tallied four strikeouts as she picked up the win.
Sasha Jennings went 4/4 with three RBIs and scored a run.
Airiana Magdaleno and Lashay Reyes each had a hit, scored a run and got an RBI.
Makinzy Kneip, Sasha Jennings, and Airiana Magdaleno were active and slippery on the bases as they each stole a base.
Myranda Lewis went 1/3, scoring twice and hitting a run-in as well. Brooke Kinnibrugh went 1/2 with a double while scoring a run and tallying two RBIs. Madyson Wiggins had a hit in the ball game and scored a run; she knocked two RBIs also.
Abigail Muniz also got a hit and scored a run.

Game 2:
In the day's second match, the Lady Lions completed the sweep of day one as they won with a score of 7- 4 over the University of the Southwest.
Trista Ford came away with the win as she took over in the 5th inning and only gave up one hit while tallying two strikeouts through three innings of work.
At the plate, Trista Ford went 1/2 while scoring a run and getting an RBI.
Airiana Magdaleno and Sasha Jennings each had a hit, scored a run, and knocked in an RBI.
McKenzie Schulze went 2/3 with a double while scoring a run and tallying two RBIs.
Makinzy Kneip, Myranda Lewis, and Brooke Kinnibrugh each scored a run in the high-scoring game.
Makinzy Kneip continued her work on the bases as she rallied another stolen base.
Madyson Wiggins went 1/3 and knocked in three runs to help the Lady Lions.
Candence Hopgood got a hit and tallied an RBI.
Lashay Reyes, Abigail Muniz, and Aracelie Mares each got a hit before the conclusion of the ball game.

"The ladies played well in the first part of the doubleheader, and I was impressed by how tough they remained throughout both contests. I am eager to see how hard they will work tomorrow," head SAGU softball coach Watty Watson said.
