Lion Review
-
The game's first eight points were all assisted or scored by Rylee Lavender. Lavender was obtrusive and vivacious even on the defensive end, as she put OCU guards in tricky situations.Â
-
Following the example set by Lavender, Autumn Moore, Neeley Tilley-Bedick, Cailyn Tucker, and Taylor Moravcik all helped the Lady Lions start the game with a 19-2 scoring run.
-
Every Lady Lion starter made a three-pointer before the first substitution. After the opening frame, SAGU outscored OCU 24-11.
-
Jazra Willams and Chanie Chambers added great energy off the bench for SAGU in the second period as the Lady Lions continued to shoot the ball well from the field.Â
-
Rylee Lavender had the most points (13), and Taylor Moravcik had the most rebounds (7), as the Lady Lions led 36-29 at the break.
-
Lavender began the second half as hot as she began the first. The OCU squad began a third-period scoring run to shorten the deficit.
-
The Lady Lions held off the OCU stars in the fourth and final period with high-IQ passing and excellent team defense.
-
Top performers for the Lady Lions were Rylee Lavender, who finished with 23 points and seven rebounds, Taylor Moravcik, who notched a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds, and Autumn Moore and Neeley Tilley-Bedick, who both scored ten points.
Son's Spiel
"I'm so excited for our girls! We have been working hard, and it's nice to see them put it together and get a win. Our devotions this week have been about grit and being unoffendable and what that looks like on and off the court; Our girls showed that today! OCU is a great program, and this is a quality win for us. Hats off to them," SAGU head women's basketball coach Micheal Sons said.
