Lion Review
-
Philbert Weekes, the King of New York, made an excellent start to the game by intercepting lazy passes from John Brown and scoring the game's first basket by using his soft hands to grab a high-low pass from Cortland Blake, the current SAC Player of the Week.
-
The Lions starters had a sluggish shooting start to the game, but the SAGU bench would enter and make a significant contribution.
-
Long three-point tries by JJ Boling, Trace Boling, and Daniel Felix all went in. Tyler Kinghorn and Dallas Smith also broke through the defense to contribute off the bench.
-
SAGU led John Brown by 32 to 30 at the half, with the bench contributing 18 of those 32 points.
-
The Lion upperclassmen heated up and left lasting impacts on the game in the second half. Cortland Blake was able to get loose after sitting out most of the first half due to foul trouble.
-
Alerick Hall continued to be the flamboyant floor general the Lions required to produce advantageous possessions while displaying his sharp sense for playmaking.
-
With 13 of his 19 points coming in the second half, Noah Boling had an impressive game. He also made a crucial, heavily contested three-pointer to tie the game at 69.
-
After a late free throw, John Brown escaped from the Sheaffer Center with a narrow victory.
-
Noah Boling led SAGU in scoring 19 points, followed by Philbert Weekes with 13 and Cortland Blake with 13.
-
Dallas Smith led the bench scorers with seven points, and Alerick Hall ended the game with eight assists.
