Lion Review
-
The current SAC men's basketball player of the week Cortland Blake got the game off to a fantastic start by scoring 13 points in the first half without missing a shot. Along with his 13 points in the opening period, Blake also pulled down seven rebounds.Â
-
Beginning the game, Brooks Haddock was likewise precise and focused, scoring 13 first half points, including three long-range three-pointers that barely grazed the net.
-
The SAGU squad had excellent rim protection from Tyler Kinghorn and Philbert Weekes, who combined for 14 points in the first half, as the Lions also controlled the painted area.
-
After the halftime intermission, the Lions had to work exceedingly hard to maintain the lead they had built up, 53 to 41.
-
Amid the second half, Cortland Blake maintained his spectacular performance by collecting his double-double rebound in heavy traffic.Â
-
Dallas Smith and Trace Boling were twin spark plugs for the SAGU bench. A Lion's scoring spree that included a Boling spin move layup that energized the home crowd and compelled SCU to request a timeout was sparked by back-to-back harassing thefts by Smith.Â
-
In the end, SAGU was able to establish a sizable advantage and win the competition. Cortland Blake led SAGU with a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds, followed by Brooks Haddock with 17 points and Philbert Weekes with 16.Â
-
Trace Boling scored 10 points, while Tyler Kinghorn scored 12.
