Waxahachie, TX: On Thursday evening at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions women's basketball team played a Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) contest against the Southwestern Christian University (SCU) Eagles,

The Lady Lions were defeated by the Eagles 59-39 in the last SAGU home game of the 2023 season.

Both sides had a fair amount of success with their shots in the game's opening frame. Five different Lady Lions scored and shot 41% from the field compared to 42% by Southwest Christian.

While the Lady Lions' shooting percentage decreased in the second, the Southwest Christian Eagles squad hit an outstanding 50% from the field and three-point range. For the SAGU team, Jazra Williams stood out offensively. Williams scored six points in the first half with ease with excellent post-footwork and a delicate touch.

Coming out of the halftime intermission, Southwestern Christian outscored SAGU 18 to 7. The Lady Lions could not capitalize on scoring opportunities despite beating the Eagles on the glass. Kyla McMinn connected on her first three-pointer of the season at the top of the key, halting an Eagle scoring run.

SAGU was outscored by Southwestern Christian 18 to 7 after the halftime break. The Lady Lions could out-rebound the Eagles, but they could not convert their opportunities to score. At the top of the key, Kyla McMinn made her first three-point attempt of the year, stopping an Eagle scoring streak.

In conclusion, the Eagles successfully gained a significant edge and won the game. Taylor Moravcik, who had six points and 14 rebounds, Cailyn Tucker, who had seven points and three assists, and Jazra Williams, who had eight points, were SAGU's top performers.
