Fort Worth, TX – On Tuesday evening at Sycamore Park in Fort Worth, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions softball team faced the Texas Wesleyan University (TWU) Rams in a doubleheader to open their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) series.
Â
Game 1:
In the day's opening game, the Lady Lions dominated the road contest, for the SAGU batting was top-notch, and the SAGU defense was very stingy.
The top batters for the Lady Lions were Sasha Jennings, Airiana Magdaleno, and Trista Ford. Sasha Jennings had two hits to complement her two runs, Airiana Magdaleno added one hit and two runs, and Trista Ford had two hits, one run, and three RBIs.
Makinsey Exley and McKenzie Schulze each added one run. Brooke Kinnibrugh added three RBIs.
Trista Ford was a lethal pitcher for SAGU; she struck out five batters in six innings while allowing only five hits and zero runs.

Game 2:
In game two, the Lady Lions shut out the Rams again, allowing zero runs. The Lady Lions' bats were less effective in game two, but the two runs they scored were still enough to clinch the day's sweep.
In the second inning, Madyson Wiggins hit a home run deep into left field to bring herself and Trista Ford in, and the Rams' home supporters' mouths dropped.
Trista Ford and Annie Charanza divided pitching duties for the Lady Lions for three innings each. Sasha Jennings also added three hits.

Watty's Word
"The ladies continue to work hard; I am pleased with how we handled ourselves on the road. Our goal is to continue improving," head SAGU softball coach Watty Watson said.
