Waxahachie, TX – On Wednesday morning at Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions softball team faced the Texas Wesleyan University (TWU) Rams in a doubleheader to close their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) series.
Â
Game 1:
After failing to score a run in the first games of the series doubleheader, the Rams' offense performed admirably in the first inning of the day's opening match. The Rams scored three runs early, and heroic TWU defensive plays cut SAGU's chances of scoring at home plate.
At the top of the sixth inning, the Lady Lions only had four hits compared to the Lady Ram's four runs. But a firm defensive stand ignited and inspired the SAGU home fans. But the bats did not heat up for SAGU.
Sasha Jennings led SAGU with two hits and a stolen base in her four at-bats. McKenzie Schulze, Airiana Magdaleno, Trista Ford, and Makinsey Exley all added one hit each.

The bats were ringing for the Lady Lions as they totaled 11 hits for 12 runs. The top batters for SAGU were Trista Ford, who got three hits and four RBIs in only three at-bats; McKenzie Schulze, who got two hits and three RBIs in only two at-bats and Brooke Kinnibrugh, who added two RBIs.
Sasha Jennings scored three runs to lead the Lady Lions. Airiana Magdaleno and Trista Ford added two additional runs apiece by speed racing around the bags.
