Waxahachie, TX – On Friday afternoon in Waxahachie, Texas, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions softball team opened their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) series against the Langston University (LU) Lady Lions.

Game 1
In the first part of the day's doubleheader the SAGU Lady Lions conquered the Langston team 9-5. The SAGU Lady Lions' winning performance was fueled by a strong second inning on offense. Despite getting less hits than Langston, the SAGU's defense played flawlessly, which allowed them keep the advantage the Lady Lions built early in the contest.
The Lady Lions' Airiana Magdaleno displayed the most ferocity on the day. The squad was spearheaded by Airiana, who started the game by swiping home plate for the first of her two runs, and her two hits and three RBIs led the team.
Additionally, Brooke Kinnibrugh had three RBIs. The SAGU Lady Lions also ran the bases quite well. Trista Ford and Sasha Jennings both swiped two bases.
Trista Ford had six strikeouts in seven innings.

Game 2
In game two the Lady Lions bested Langston 5-2. The Langston squad was shut out by the SAGU defense for the remainder of the game after scoring two runs in the first inning.
Trista Ford, Myranda Lewis, Hannah Kleinpeter, and Sasha Jennings all contributed RBIs. A base was burglarized by Sasha Jennings and Brooke Kinnibrugh.
In seven innings, Annie Charanze struck out five batters.
