Waxahachie, TX - In a physical Tuesday night showdown beneath the radiant stadium lights at the Lions Athletic Complex, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions soccer team faced off against the Dallas Christian College (DCC) Crusaders. This match held a special significance, as it not only witnessed intense soccer action but also served as a heartfelt tribute. The Lions, playing with hearts heavy yet determined, delivered a dynamic performance.

As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, the stage was set for a soccer spectacle that would keep fans on the edge of their seats. The game's defining moment came in the 54th minute when Pedro Figueiredo Mattoso, with unwavering precision, delivered the winning goal. The Lions' faithful erupted as the net rippled with the ball's impact. The goal was made possible by a brilliant assist from Wenceslau Coimbra, whose vision and execution demonstrated the Lions' chemistry.
While the Lions offense was remarkable, the credit for preserving the lead fell to goalkeeper David Calvete Beltran. Calvete Beltran exhibited immense composure under pressure, making three crucial saves to deny the Crusaders any opportunity to equalize. His performance between the posts was a testament to the Lions' solid defensive unit.
