Lions Dominates Southwestern Adventist University with 6-0 Victory

September 15, 2023

Waxahachie, TX - In a thrilling matchup on Friday afternoon, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions men's soccer team showcased their prowess on the lush turf of the Lions Athletic Complex in Waxahachie, Texas. Facing off against Southwestern Adventist University, the Lions delivered a commanding performance that left fans in awe.

Lions Review
From the very start, it was clear that the Lions were determined to dominate the game. SAGU's goalkeeper, David Calvete Beltran, showcased his exceptional skills by venturing far away from the goal box to punt outlet passes to his strikers. Beltran also played a vital role in directing the team's strategies for scoring opportunities, providing a vocal presence on the field.

The first half of the game was nothing short of spectacular for the Lions. Ashton Leffring, Ethan Stewart, and John Garcia secured early goals, pushing SAGU into a commanding 3-0 lead before the halftime intermission. However, it was Ashton Leffring's perfectly executed header that stole the show, igniting cheers of joy from the passionate fans.

Coach Cesar España's halftime talk clearly motivated his squad to maintain their dominance. The message was simple: keep the foot on the gas pedal. The Lions didn't let up in the second half. Isaiah Waddy continued to build on the team's lead by netting the first goal of the half. This was followed by an impressive display of teamwork, as Jose Rodriguez and Jacop Sang punched in back-to-back goals to further extend the lead.

In the end, the SAGU Lions emerged victorious with an impressive 6-0 win over Southwestern Adventist University, showcasing their skill and determination on the field.
