Waxahachie, Texas -In an electrifying showdown on Friday at the Lions Athletic Complex, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions soccer team displayed remarkable prowess as they triumphed over the University of Dallas (UD) Crusaders. The sunlit evening provided the perfect backdrop for a soccer spectacle that left fans on the edge of their seats.

The first half saw the Lady Lions setting the tempo of the game, with Anna Bewley making her mark by expertly finding the back of the net. Paula Moreno Gomez showcased her playmaking skills with an exquisite assist to set up Bewley's goal, giving SAGU the early lead.

However, the Lady Lions were not content with just a one-goal advantage. They returned to the field with renewed vigor in the second half, and it was Anna Bewley who once again took center stage. In the 58th minute, Bewley showcased her exceptional talent with a mesmerizing strike from the 30-yard line that found the target, doubling the Lady Lions' lead.

The Lady Lions weren't done yet, as they continued to press forward and maintain their offensive momentum. In the 60th minute, Paula Moreno Gomez capitalized on a well-executed corner kick by Valeria Olivas Maldonado, heading the ball into the net to extend the lead to 3-0.

Head SAGU women's soccer coach Paul Hason expressed his admiration for both teams, saying, "We enjoyed competing tonight against a very disciplined and resilient opponent." The match was indeed a testament to the dedication and skill of both squads.

The Lady Lions now turn their attention to the upcoming challenges in the 2023 season. Their next matchup is a pivotal one, as they gear up to face Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma, on September 26th at 1:00 PM. This contest marks the commencement of the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) action for the Lady Lions, and they are eager to build on their winning momentum as they aim for a successful conference campaign.
