Fort Worth, TX – In a highly-anticipated showdown the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lions soccer team clashed with their cross-town rivals, the Texas Wesleyan University (TWU) Rams, in an electrifying Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) encounter on Friday evening. The match lived up to its hype, and the Lions emerged victorious, defeating the Rams with a scoreline of 2-1. This victory marked a significant milestone for SAGU, as it secured their first conference win of the 2023 season.
Lions Review
The game kicked off with a bang as Ethan Stewart scored the first goal of the match. With a remarkable unassisted goal, Stewart sent shockwaves through the stadium. His goal not only put the Lions ahead but also infused a surge of energy and determination into the entire SAGU squad as they headed into halftime with the lead.
The Lions' defensive fortitude was also on full display, with David Calvete Beltran making a massive impact in the goal box. His exceptional saves throughout the game proved to be a crucial factor in preserving the Lions' lead and securing the hard-fought victory.
