WBU Pioneers Are Unable To Sour Lady Lions' Ring Ceremony

September 29, 2023

Waxahachie, TX – Friday evening was a night of celebration and triumph as the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions volleyball team faced off against the Wayland Baptist University (WBU) Pioneers in a highly anticipated Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) showdown. Prior to the game, the Sheaffer Center witnessed a special ring ceremony, a fitting tribute to the 2022 Lady Lions who had achieved the remarkable feat of clinching the SAC Regular Season and Conference Tournament Championships. Their stellar 2022 33-2 season record also marked a historic moment in the program's history, as they became the first team to advance past the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament.

The atmosphere was electric, with fans and supporters buzzing with excitement. The Wayland squad, however, could not dampen the spirits of the night's celebration. The Lady Lions delivered a spectacular performance, securing victory in three sets with scores of 25-11, 25-11, and 25-20.
