SAGU Lady Lions Win Over Southwestern Christian Behind Agar Farres Garcia’s Paint Domination

Waxahachie, TX - In a thrilling Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) showdown, the Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) Lady Lions showcased their prowess against the Southwestern Christian University (SCU) Eagles at the Sheaffer Center in Waxahachie, Texas on Saturday afternoon. 

Lady Lion Review 
The game ignited with a fierce battle in the paint between Kyla McMinn and the Eagles' starting center, setting the stage for an intense matchup. Wendy Clemmons dazzled with three consecutive long-range shots, while Agar Farres Garcia dominated the boards. The Lady Lions secured a 17-12 lead after the first period.

Rylee Lavender and Chanie Chambers provided a burst of energy off the bench, maintaining the Lady Lions' lead. Wendy Clemmons' sharpshooting forced the SCU squad into a timeout, prompting defensive adjustments.

Agar Farres Garcia exhibited an all-around performance, contributing steals, flashy assists, blocks, and monster rebounds. At halftime, the Lady Lions led 28-26, with Garcia boasting eight rebounds and five assists. Wendy Clemmons led the scoring with 12 points.

Coach Michael Sons urged the Lady Lions to continue their teamwork and defensive tenacity. Garcia flirted with a triple-double, elevating the team's play to establish a 15-point lead. The third period witnessed the Lady Lions' scorching performance, with Kyla McMinn scoring 12 points. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions led 43-33.

Despite facing adversity in the final period, the Lady Lions, led by Garcia's clutch offensive rebounding, secured a 56-45 victory.

Having completed the first half of conference play, the SAGU squad looks forward to a conference rematch against the University of Science and Arts (Okla.) on January 25th at 6:00 PM in the Sheaffer Center, Waxahachie, Texas.
