Lady Lions Review
The game began with Nelson asserting their dominance early, controlling possession and creating opportunities to test the opposing defense. It didn't take long for the breakthrough to come. In the 24th minute, midfielder Daisy Altamirano found the back of the net, expertly finishing after an assist by Stephanie Arreola and standout forward Anna Bewley. The build-up play was sharp, with Arreola threading a crucial pass that allowed Altamirano to score the opener, giving Nelson a deserved 1-0 lead.
Just four minutes later, in the 28th minute, Nelson struck again, this time courtesy of Anna Bewley, the team's relentless offensive threat. Assisted by Stephanie Hernandez, Bewley slotted home Nelson's second goal, extending the Lady Lions' advantage and further showcasing her importance to the team's attacking power. Bewley, who had eight shots with six on target throughout the match, was a constant menace to Southwestern Christian's backline.
The Lady Lions' defense, anchored by goalkeeper Samantha Longoria, held firm against Southwestern Christian, limiting them to just five shots on target. Longoria's five saves ensured that Nelson kept a clean sheet, with the defense showing resilience and organization throughout the match.
