Waxahachie, TX – The Nelson University Lady Lions showed no mercy as they continued their Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC) dominance on Friday night, taking down Oklahoma City University (OCU) in straight sets (25-14, 25-10, 25-18). This win extends the Lady Lions' flawless 9-0 SAC record and overall 14-4 mark.
The Sheaffer Center was electric as Nelson's powerhouse, Lindi Boling, set the tone from the service line and back row, helping the team hammer home 11 aces and 37 total kills. Boling's serves thundered like a cannon, consistently disrupting OCU's defense and giving Nelson early leads in every set. Her aggressive style sparked a dominant Lady Lions attack, with Lilly Hanna leading the charge at the net with 10 kills and an impressive .714 hitting percentage.
Lady Lion Review
From the opening serve, Nelson University wasted no time taking control. In the first set, a combination of precise attacking and aggressive defense overwhelmed OCU. Lilly Hanna was nearly unstoppable at the net, slamming 10 kills, while Bailee Alexander added 9 of her own, with Samantha Moore chipping in with 3 kills and 3 total blocks.
Set two was all about Nelson's pinpoint execution. The Lady Lions recorded a blistering .423 hitting percentage, led by Alexander and Mackenzie Smith's powerful swings. Oklahoma City couldn't find an answer, struggling to score as the Lady Lions took the set 25-10.
The third set was more of the same as Nelson's front row, spearheaded by Moore's blocks and Hanna's aggressive play, stifled OCU's attack. Tessa Glick's 18 digs kept the back row rock solid, and Cassidy Hargesheimer dished out 18 assists to keep Nelson's offense flowing smoothly.
The final set ended in an 18-point showing from OCU, but it wasn't enough to stop the Lady Lions' relentless pursuit, as they closed the door with a 25-18 victory to complete the sweep.
